Sadness at passing of Ballybofey businessman Liam Foy

first_imgFoy & Company founder Liam Foy of Creggan, Ballybofey has sadly passed away.Mr Foy died suddenly at Letterkenny University Hospital on Tuesday.A much-respected and well-liked businessman, Mr Foy and his wife Ann first established their home interiors store in Ballybofey in 1981. Foy & Company expanded to Letterkenny in 1996 and remains of Donegal’s best known home interiors stores.Through this lifetime career, Mr Foy had a large interest and influence on local business, supporting local community causes and providing employment in both the Twin Towns and in Letterkenny. Foy & Company remains a family-run store which prides itself on customer service and quality.The Foy & Company Family and StaffCllr Patrick McGowan led the tributes to Mr Foy, saying that his passing has come as a shock to the Finn Valley and Donegal community. “I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to Ann and the Foy family,” Cllr McGowan said.“Liam was a main figure you see around Ballybofey and Stranorlar. He was one of those people that makes a town.“The Foy family are very well known and a long-established business family in the town.“I am shocked and saddened at the loss.“Liam was a very approachable and very friendly man. He had a very nice demeanour about him. He was a gentleman.”Cllr McGowan also acknowledged Mr Foy’s dedication to the local Chamber and the community. He said: “Foy & Company would give sponsorship to many groups over the years. Community groups look to our local businesses for support and, in that way, they are the lifeblood of the town.“Liam was a big supporter of the Chamber of Commerce. You can always count on a member of the family to turn up at meetings. If there was a challenge or if something new was coming to the town, they were always represented and supportive.“In that way, Liam had a big influence in the Chamber and the rest of the community. He will be greatly missed,” Cllr McGowan said.Mr Foy is survived by his wife Ann and their children Eamon, Tony, Colin, Nuala and David.
