Due to his accomplished service, the Board of Governors re-appointed Waverman as Dean starting July 1.“Dean Waverman has accomplished much in his time at McMaster, launching the new Executive MBA program in Digital Transformation, working with the faculty to reconfigure the MBA and engaging with the Faculty of Humanities to launch the new IBH program this September,” Provost David Wilkinson said in a news release. “Our students, staff and faculty are well-served by his leadership.”Prior to his time at DeGroote, Waverman was the Dean of the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary where he was responsible for helping to create the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business. He has also been a professor of economics at the University of Toronto and the London School of Business. His research and industry experience includes consulting on a range of energy, natural resources, telecommunications and competition policy matters around the world. In 2009, he was cited as one of the world’s most influential thought leaders within the telecommunications industry according to Global Telecoms Magazine. He’s also a specialist in microeconomics and industrial organization with his current research focusing on the impact that developments in the telecommunications industry have on growth and productivity.Waverman will bring all this experience and more to his role as Dean of DeGroote.“I’m very pleased to be able to continue my work at McMaster,” Waverman said. “The DeGroote School of Business is one of the top business schools in the country, and I look forward to being able to keep working with the community here to build on its many strengths.”About Dean WavermanWaverman received his B.Com and MA from the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. from MIT.
