first_imgWorking Conditions: SummaryThe Department of Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for PRNAdvanced Practice Clinician position in a critical clinical role.This Advanced Practice Clinician will provide medical care topatients with complex acute, critical, and/or chronic healthconditions in a hospital setting in one or more specialized areasunder the direction of a physician. Candidate will be required toprovide clinical excellence, scholarly enthusiasm, and a trackrecord of excellent clinical performance. The provider will havedirect patient care responsibilities. The position will report to aBCM department head and the SVP and Dean of Clinical Affairs.Key Functions: Job PurposeProvides advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting inan area of specialization under the direction of a physician.Job DutiesObtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures inaccordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacologicaltreatments.Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patientcharts as to status, treatments, and procedures.Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medicalrecords.Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients inaccordance with protocols established with the supervisingphysician.Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family membersof patients concerning patient care.Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifyingappropriate patients for care management.Perform other job related duties as assigned. This position requires working in Critical Care Units. Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree from an approved Physician AssistantProgram.Licensed as a Certified Physician Assistant in the State ofTexas. Be able to conduct comprehensive assessment of patientsthroughout the continuum in the inpatient setting based on age anddiagnosis, including psychological status.Perform and document history and physicals, order diagnosticstudies, therapeutic procedures, prescribe medications, andparticipate in collaboration and direct reporting of patientinformation to the medical staff.Proficient use of Epic in the delivery of care.
